The Children's Place
New Jersey, USA
The Children’s Place, a clothing design and retail chain, was eager to explore alternative ways in which workspace could be used in their new headquarters. They were especially interested in promoting collaborative team structures among the design, production, and merchandising staff.
The new Children’s Place headquarters is an adaptive re-use of an existing office and warehouse complex. As part of the renovation, a new upper level was inserted into the high bay warehouse, in order to meet the need for an expanded office area. New skylights, open stairs and windows were cut into the existing structure, creating an open work environment.
The headquarters houses 350 employees, as well as quality control labs and a full-scale retail store mock-up. A wide range of work environments are featured throughout the facility, including open and enclosed offices, and a large number of informal meeting and work areas. The design team worked on a fast-track schedule, and was able to expedite fit-out packages to ensure occupation within one year.
