Sustainability
Our commitment to sustainable design is deeply rooted in the firm’s practice. Long before sustainable design became fashionable, the Americas practice was active in exploring innovative strategies to reduce energy consumption and utilize renewable materials and technologies. In our practice sustainable design is a long-term approach to the design and adaptive reuse of buildings that extends beyond the construction and occupancy of a building to include the environmental and economic impacts of its long term use and maintenance. A sustainable design strategy is also an interdisciplinary approach and requires a commitment from all team members and the client, with a high level of communication at each phase of the project.
Internally, Davis Brody Bond Aedas has launched GreenDBBA (Green Davis Brody Bond Aedas), a multi-faceted approach to greening our offices. Led by Partner Chris Grabé, the campaign outlines a series of internal and external initiatives to enhance intelligent and responsible design as well as practice. GreenDBBA is centered around a core team of LEED accredited professionals, who meet regularly to plan presentations on current sustainable DBBA projects, serve as resources on project teams, and work to increase the amount of LEED APs within the practice. By elevating the regard for sustainability and increasing the expertise of our staff, GreenDBBA aspires to expand the practice’s green portfolio as we explore innovative solutions to design, attracting enlightened clients and garnering recognition in the community. The firm is a member of the US Green Building Council and has over 20 LEED APs.
