Toronto Metro stations

Canada

Renewable energy: Solar hot water, photovoltaics
Sustainability Target: LEED Silver

Aedas is lead designer of two metro stations in Canada. Aedas Sustainability supports the design development to achieve a minimal carbon footprint and efficient resource use through robust and well coordinated passive and active design features. LEED Silver target is the reference framework for the project.

The project makes use of the opportunities of the site in proposing earth tubes and hollow-core slabs for efficient mixed-mode heating and cooling. Careful zoning creates thermal buffers which also ensure that heating and cooling setpoints can be set according to the use, reducing energy consumption. A green roof system provides a high-insulation envelope which also contributes to the water management and biodiversity of the development.
