He leads the Computational Design Research Group [CDR] that develops computational design applications for generative and analytical design processes in architecture with an emphasis on properties of space and human occupation. Recently, the work of CDR has been shortlisted for various design prices and research awards like the Compasso d’Oro in Italy and won the commendation of the President’s Medal for Practice Research of the Royal Institute of British Architects [RIBA].
Christian finished his architectural studies with an MSc in Computing & Design and has been teaching and researching the subject at the University of East London, University College London, Politecnico di Milano and Technical University Vienna. After graduating in 2001, he became joint-director with Paul Coates of the Centre for Evolutionary Computing in Architecture [CECA] at University of East London.
He is currently completing a PhD on the subject of Computational Design at TU Vienna.
