Aedas has drawn from its extensive experience of the education sector, to design this dramatic new £5.5m school. The design takes a modern curved form, conceived to maximise views from the building which wraps around a large external courtyard. The courtyard provides the school with a secure outdoor space adaptable for a range of activities including dining, play, performance and teaching.
The building accommodates 210 pupils and associated teaching staff supplemented with a specialist nursery for Autism Spectrum Disorder Unit and community room.
Teaching classrooms are arranged in year group order showing a clear progression through school life. Traditional materials have been used in a contemporary way to create a welcoming building that enhances the pupil’s experiences.
The complete replacement of the existing rundown buildings and temporary classroom structures creates a new dynamic learning environment for both pupils and staff.
