The Terminal 8 East project consists of an administration/ maintenance building of approximately 20,000m2 gross floor area, two gatehouses and canopies of 1,500 m2 gross floor area each, LPG store, underground diesel tanks and pump installation, civil works and ancillary facilities. The site was reclaimed land which required careful staging to enable the building construction to keep pace with the land availability.
The administration/ maintenance building was designed for maximum flexibility and comprises engineering workshop and offices, staff amenities, canteen, kitchen, executive office floors and sports facilities.
The prominent location adjacent to the proposed Route 3 required a design solution which befitted its situation and an ability to withstand a harsh marine environment whilst remaining within the tight budgetary constraints of the brief. The result reflected a cost effective, buildable design solution with utilitarian finishes able to withstand exposure to the marine environment.
