Both Express Rail Link West Kowloon Terminus (WKT) and the Shatin to Central Link (SCL) Preliminary Design have won Autodesk Hong Kong BIM Awards 2010, which honor architectural specialists for bringing their creative ideas into brilliant existence with BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology. Winners chosen have made considerable achievements in a wide range covering innovative usage of BIM in evolving design, attaining green/ sustainable design as well as business practice transformation. With full mastery of this technology, Aedas has vividly visualized to the clients their concepts, which in return enhances productivity and reduces production costs.
Regarding the challenge imposed by an increased design intricacy and a tight deadline, schedules, images, drawings and coordination reports were effectively created, presented and distributed to other parties with BIM for the WKT project. The improved management not only impressed the client with noticeable futile work reduced, but also benefitted the environment with considerable construction waste avoided. Meanwhile, the SCL design team has also been well recognized for maintaining a good balance between public demand and creativity. To simultaneously design a total of 10 underground and above ground stations for this new railway, our people managed to ensure the layout consistency in detail at a lower time cost.
