Aedas have won first prize on the Master Planning and Architectural Design Competition for this project. The Company have subsequently been appointed to execute the award winning scheme. This mixed-use development is located on a 49 hectares site near the new CBD of Beijing.
The Master Plan incorporated a comprehensive range of development broken into several phases, which consisted of 150,000m² office, 1,000,000m² residential, 58,000m² hotel and 82,000m² retail area.
The commercial complex of R&F City along the Eastern 3rd Ring Road comprises two 21-storey grade A office buildings, one 25-storey four star hotel comprising 400-500 rooms, a 10-storey service apartment and a huge shopping mall. With its close proximity to the new CBD, just 800m away from the China Trading Centre, the complex provide 50,000m² office area and 60,000m2 retail area. Having a frontage of more than 550m long, variety functions are organized as a whole along the 3rd Ring Road as curvilinear volume to avoid wall effect. An urban plaza is reserved as the southern tip to create more open space.
Aedas are the Architect upon this project and has completed the first three phases of the masterplan. The entire development will be completed in 2008.
