For the first tender of this competition the Computational Design and Research team produced a series of applications to design:

- The roof [adaptive circle packing]
- Elevations [barycentric coordinate systems for mesh population]
- Residential units arrangements [polyomino tiling]

The design applications were a response to visual analogies derived from mathematical models. All models have in common that design outcomes are just one possible option from the available complete design space. Thus the applications perform a search within that option space and arrive at an equally ‘good’ solution after every execution.
