Clyde Fastlink is part of a comprehensive and sustainable transport proposal within the Clyde Corridor in Glasgow linking the city centre with new & proposed visitor/leisure attractions & residential developments along the River Clyde. As a means to reduce dependence on private transport by providing a frequent, dependable and affordable service, associated spin-off benefits to the economy & environment are anticipated.
Originally envisaged as a conventional tram-on-rail system, the short/medium-term solution is a high quality ‘State of the Art’ bus which would operate in an exclusive, identified corridor ensuring frequency and quality of service. The corridor can be extended west wards along the north of the Clyde and facilitate future links & will not preclude its future modification to a Light Rail Transit System.
Aedas were engaged by Glasgow City Council as part of a multi-disciplinary design team to co-ordinate an Environmental Impact Assessment for the urban route & develop proposals for its integration into the public realm.
