Prior to joining Aedas, Walter led a successful practice and worked in senior positions in some of Canada’s best design firms.  His architectural skills were honed on award-winning projects such as the corporate headquarters of Hasbro near Providence, RI.  His work successfully re-uses historic structures in urban contexts.  He has also authored various award-winning design studies including National Capital Ceremonial Routes for the National Capital Commission and Planning and Design for Commercial Facade Improvements, for the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs.

Walter's portfolio includes transit projects, automobile showrooms, large and small residential projects, building envelope and facade improvements, as well as restaurants, locally and abroad.  In 2000, Toronto’s NOW magazine awarded Walter an annual reader’s poll award in the category of “Best Architect.”

Walter taught part-time at the University of Toronto, School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, has spoken at architectural conferences and his work has been published in local, national and international periodicals and journals.

Throughout his career he has been engaged in many community organizations including over 20 years with the scouting movement through leadership training in Canada and with sponsorship from the Government of Canada, in Ukraine.
