Before the high jump event in the 1968 Mexico Olympics, no one knew that a man can jump higher by turning his back towards the bar instead of adopting the customary way - with his body parallel to it. I have been trying to learn from this, to overcome our routine way of thought.

Cary is a Global Design Principal of Aedas and leads high profile mixed-use, commercial, residential and institutional projects in PRC and Hong Kong. As a passionate design architect striving for innovation and vision, he has produced contemporary and inspired architecture which continuously enables him to push the boundaries, yet meeting clients’ high expectation with leading developers.

Experienced in delivering commercial mixed-use projects in PRC, Cary designed the campus headquarters for a logistics giant in Hangzhou, which is an eight-level annular building covering 90,000 sq m. He also designed the Shanghai Landmark Center, a mixed-use commercial and office complex covering 61,000 sq m in the heart of Hongkou District, and Renhe Spring Mixed-use Development that covers over 546,900 sq m to offer a vibrant leisure and entertainment destination in Chengdu. Cary is also experienced in designing luxury residential and hospitality projects. His proven track records include the Pulsa – a private residential development in Repulse Bay with eight houses, The Beacon Hotel in Mong Kok, and the tranquil getaway Sai Kung WM Hotel in Hong Kong.

Cary is also experienced in undertaking institutional projects and provides a people-centric environment for students and staff. He has completed Harrow International School & Harrow Innovation Leadership Academy in Haikou, offering an open and aesthetic learning environment. He also completed The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library Extension, creating a seamless connector to the surrounding facilities and serving as a communal space to facilitate interaction. With a career that spans more than two decades, Cary’s projects have received accolades from MIPIM Asia Awards, Asia Pacific Property Awards, Hong Kong Institute of Architects Annual Awards, REARD Award, ICSC Awards, LEAF Awards, Global RLI Awards, and many others.
