Huanancheng Exhibition Centre is located in the outskirts of Nanning, with a five-storey shopping mall and exhibition space. The client has leased the exhibition centre to a furniture retailer for 25 years, which inspired the team to create a furniture-related design.With the application of semiotics, the architecture is an abstraction of a folding chair. Parametrics were used to develop the façade which follows an 1.2-metre module. The baffles bend into a folding canopy to signify the entrance. Each baffle is made of aluminum squared hollow section, coated in the colour of wood. At night the wall behind the baffles are lit with LED.
