Woodlands Station is among the three newly opened stations on the northern portion of Singapore’s Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL). It provides the northern Interchange with the existing elevated North South Line, serving MRT lines to the West, South and East of Singapore, with the possibility of a new Malaysia cross border station to its North. The design endeavours to interface and integrate with the surrounding context circulations and building forms. It provides a direct and seamless link to the adjacent bus interchange and future commercial developments with a new underground pedestrian link-way at concourse level, seeking to optimise commercial opportunities in the area. The station architecture not only integrates but enhances the surrounding context, while generating a unique and recognisable transport facility for now and for the future.Aedas is also working on 6 more stations on TEL’s south section, expected to open in 2021. Upon fully operational in 2025, the 43 km fully automated, driverless Mass Rapid Transit line will become the longest Line of Singapore stretching from the Marina Bay CBD area in the south to the northerly Woodlands area and along the east coastline towards Changi Airport.
