Aedas is delighted to announce that 313@Somerset and Marina Bay MRT Station were awarded respectively Best Design Land Transport Integration and Best Design Rail / Road Infrastructure – Project Partner at the recent Land Transport Excellence Awards. The ceremony was held at Swissotel The Stamford, Singapore, with Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Lui Tuck Yew as Guest-Of-Honour at the awards ceremony.

313@Somerset was recognised for its design excellence in land transport integration with adjacent development. Located at the heart of Orchard Road and right above the Somerset MRT Station entrance, the mall of 40,000sqm was designed with the idea of integration with adjacent developments to provide a continuous shopping experience. Permeability and porosity within the site are given top priority for the benefit of pedestrians and users. This is to ensure that the human flow from Orchard Road to Somerset Road through the development and vice versa is seamless for an uninterrupted enjoyment.

Marina Bay MRT Station was honoured for its design excellence in land transport infrastructure or related systems and solutions. Located under Bayfront Avenue adjacent to the existing Marina Bay (NSL) Station, as an interchange station it provides links to the existing NSL station to become part of an integrated pedestrian network with connections to the neighbouring developments. It also includes a temporary, self sufficient maintenance facility for CCL trains, which would be transformed into an underground link-way in the future. In order to minimise the visual impact of the main station entrance, which is located inside a proposed urban park, a lightweight roof construction was proposed with all service interventions being fully integrated into the park landscape.

The biennial Land Transport Excellence Awards (LTEA) was inaugurated in 2008 by the Land Transport Authority of Singapore to recognise industry partners and individuals who have made significant contributions to Singapore land transport. The Awards also seek to set new benchmarks and help create a Singapore brand for industry players as they work together to deliver a pleasant experience for commuters. Being recognized in the Awards once again proves Aedas is equipped with the capability to design and execute some of the best practices in the transport sector.
