Aedas 荣获七个香港建筑师学会两岸四地建筑设计大奖

Aedas-designed Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Administration Information Building in Suzhou, China won a prestigious Gold award for Commercial: Office and the Revitalisation Project at Mallory Street/Burrows Street, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, received a Silver award for Community, Culture, Religion and Recreational Projects at HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Awards 2015. Five other Aedas projects also won Nominated Awards.

Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Administration Information Building, designed by Global Board Director Andy Wen, is the main administrative building of the university and gives a modern interpretation of the famous Taihu stones which are always found in Suzhou gardens. The porous nature of the stones is reflected architecturally by voids and spaces inside the building to facilitate interaction and allow a series of sustainable design features.

The Revitalisation Project at Mallory Street/Burrows Street conserves a rare and intact shophouse ensemble dated 1910s (listed Grade 2 historic building in Hong Kong) and revives the traditional architectural fabric for modern leisure and commercial use. Designed by Associate Director Edward Leung, this revitalisation project respects historic changes, faithfully reinstates the more intact portions and features, as well as introduces contemporary design and materials to the remaining blocks.

“The Cross-Strait region has been developing rapidly and presenting tremendous opportunities for architects over the past 10 years,” said Keith Griffiths, Chairman of Aedas. “Aedas is proud to grow with the region and will continue to tailor world-class, timeless architecture for the communities.”

The five projects winning Nominated Awards are:
⋅ Center 66, Wuxi, China, designed by Executive Directors Christine Lam and David Clayton (Commercial: Shopping)
⋅ Langham Place, Guangzhou, China, designed by Andrew Bromberg at Aedas (Hotels)
⋅ LAND Experience Centre, Xi’an, China (Community, Culture, Religion and Recreational Projects)
⋅ The Forum, Hong Kong, designed by Chairman Keith Griffiths (Commercial: Office)
⋅ THR350, Hong Kong, designed by Global Board Director Ken Wai (Residential: Low-rise)

Organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), the HKIA Cross-Strait Architectural Design Awards recognised outstanding design in Mainland China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong.
