Two Aedas projects recognised at the A&D Awards 2020

At the A&D Awards this year, two Aedas-designed projects received accolades for their design excellence and innovation. They are:

1. Peak Galleria, Hong Kong, China (by Executive Director Ed Lam)
Gold, Category – Best Shopping & Retail

The Peak Galleria sits atop Victoria Peak, Hong Kong’s most iconic setting with sweeping views of the harbor below. It officially reopened in 2019 after 2.5 years of renovation. Aedas has modernised the once obsolete development, and re-establish it as a salient landmark. The new design introduced a facade consisted of three-dimensional glass grid shell, refracted through a stunning gemstone – an artifice through which “the Pearl of the Orient’s” incandescent spirit is captured. Beyond the pleasing aesthetics, the new design has engendered an increased sense of accessibility, bridging the distance between people and nature. The Peak Galleria now, after meticulous renovation, is meshed into the surrounding landscape, becoming an indispensable part of urban life in Hong Kong.

2. Yi by Jereme Leung, Singapore (by Executive Principal Simon Thompson and Associate Director Ji An)
Gold - International, Category – Interior Design – Best Bar & Restaurant

Designed for the restored Raffles Hotel Singapore, Yi by celebrity Chef Jereme Leung is a high end Chinese restaurant which references centuries of culinary mastery. Adapted from the Chinese creation myth, Yi by Jereme Yeung depicts the creation of Heaven and Earth by the god Pangu. The restaurant celebrates the concept of family roots and values passed onto future generations through story telling. By reinterpreting this tradition in a modern progressive way, the designer aims to create a hidden world for guests to explore within one of Singapore’s most historical landmarks, the timeless Raffles Hotel.

A&D Awards serves as a platform for architecture and interior design practices, showcasing the best of work to the wider industry – to industry associations and suppliers, developers, clients and public sector agencies.
