Four Aedas projects recognised at A' Design Award 2021

This year, Aedas received four awards for the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category at the A’ Design Award:

1. Hengqin International Financial Center, Zhuhai, PRC (by Global Design Principal Dr. Andy Wen and Chairman and Global Design Principal Keith Griffiths)
Platinum – Architecture, Building and Structure Design

Hengqin International Financial Centre (IFC) stands 339-metres high on the propitious Hengqin Island of Zhuhai, a future financial district at the centre of the Greater Bay Area in China. The design is inspired by the famous painting ‘Nine Dragons’, dating from the Southern Song Dynasty. From outside in, the tower ascends from the ground up in a spiraling fashion, invoking the Chinese flood dragon myth as a metaphor for the dignity and grandeur of the region. Comprised of Grade-A office, apartments and conference and exhibition amenities; the building inexorably expresses immense growth, and embodies the district’s prosperity.

2. SHUIBEI International Center, Shenzhen, PRC (by Global Design Principal Dr. Andy Wen)
Gold – Architecture, Building and Structure Design

Located in China’s jewelry trade and processing hub in Luohu, Shenzhen, the SHUIBEI International Centre integrates Grade-A offices, a jewelry and lifestyle shopping centre, food and beverage, entertainment and various other functions. Incorporating public space on multiple levels, with sky gardens, landscaped outdoor staircases and a greenscaped podium rooftop, the development is equipped to accommodate work and recreational activities. Distinguished by its curved silhouette, an extensive LED screen sits along the base of the building and refracts the city’s invigorating energy.

3. Shenzhen Transsion Holdings Headquarters, Shenzhen, PRC (by Global Design Principal Leo Liu)
Gold – Architecture, Building and Structure Design

Shenzhen Transsion Holdings Headquarters is located in the heart of Liuxiandong Headquarter Base, one of the most valuable innovation hub in Nanshan District of Shenzhen. Inspired by the concept of a “cloud hub”, the design creates a technological and futuristic building form that celebrates spirit of openness, cooperation and sharing, echoing the vision of the leading technology firm. The three shared functional hubs—public, leisure, and business—are hosted by glass boxes, and the interlocking structure maximises permeability as well as functional integration.

4. Shenzhen Futian International Sports and Culture Exchange Center, Shenzhen, PRC (by Executive Director Chris Chen, and Executive Director Leon Liang)
Silver – Architecture, Building and Structure Design

Marked by a 3.6 km vertical running track wrapped along the building envelope, Shenzhen Futian International Sports and Culture Exchange Centre is a community landmark building that integrates sports, culture and social interaction. The vertical stacking strategy is adopted to integrate the development’s multifunctional spaces, supporting office and public facilities within a high-rise building mass, enabling each program to operate independently while staying connected through open spaces. The centre serves to meet the diverse needs of citizens, provide Futian with 24/7 integrated development, and establish itself as a culture and lifestyle hub in the Greater Bay Area of China.

A’ Design Award and Competitions aims to highlight the excellent qualifications of best designs, design concepts and design oriented products worldwide in all disciplines and industries.
