Two Aedas projects win at the International Design Awards 2020

At International Design Awards 2020, two Aedas projects received accolades for their design excellence and innovation. They are:
1. Peak Galleria, Hong Kong, China (by Executive Director Ed Lam)
Bronze - Architecture Categories / Retails, Shops, Department stores, Mall

The Peak Galleria sits atop Victoria Peak, Hong Kong’s most iconic setting with sweeping views of the harbor below. It officially reopened in 2019 after 2.5 years of renovation. Aedas has modernised the once obsolete development, and re-establish it as a salient landmark. The new design introduced a facade consisted of three-dimensional glass grid shell, refracted through a stunning gemstone – an artifice through which “the Pearl of the Orient’s” incandescent spirit is captured. Beyond the pleasing aesthetics, the new design has engendered an increased sense of accessibility, bridging the distance between people and nature. The Peak Galleria now, after meticulous renovation, is meshed into the surrounding landscape, becoming an indispensable part of urban life in Hong Kong.

2. Shenzhen Futian International Sports and Culture Exchange Center, Shenzhen, PRC (by Executive Director Chris Chen and Executive Director Leon Liang)
Bronze - Architecture Categories / Institutional

Shenzhen Futian District International Sports Cultural Exchange Center is a community landmark building that integrates sports, culture and social interaction. The design divides the format into three parts: the industry, the main venue "IN space" and the multifunctional space. The vertical stacking strategy enables multiple functional formats to operate independently while staying connected through public spaces. A column-free space with a truss + hanging design promises flexibility of the building for future events. The Center serves to meet the diverse needs of citizens, provide Futian with 24/7 integrated development and establish itself as the core urban area in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The International Design Awards (IDA) recognizes, celebrates and promotes exceptional design visionaries and works to discover emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic, and Fashion Design worldwide.
