Two Aedas projects by Pierre Tong and Dimi Lee shine at International Property Awards 2019

At this year’s International Property Awards held in London, Aedas-designed Tianshan Gate of the World in Shijiazhuang and SCE Hong Qiao Times Square in Shanghai beat other regional winning projects from Europe, Africa and the Americas and win Best International Commercial High-rise Architecture and Best International Office Architecture respectively. Tianshan Gate of the World further crowned World’s Best Architecture as the topmost winner of the year.

Tianshan Gate of the World designed by Aedas Executive Director Pierre Tong is an 862,000 sq m urban mixed-use project in the new city centre of Shijiazhuang. The project features a 450-metre tall International Finance Center with a commercial amenity podium, a 150-metre medical tower, eight 100-metre serviced apartment towers, eight 100-200 metres tall Grade-A office towers and a central 600-metre long retail street. The 450-metre skyscraper offers Grade-A offices, entrepreneur serviced apartments, five-star hotel, restaurants, a featured sky c¬lub with infinity edge pool at top and an observatory spiral flying deck at the top of the tower. The design of the tower is inspired by the core spirit of Chinese philosophy: the harmonious spirit of the Unity of Heaven and Man. The appearance of the tower reflects the curvy form of Chinese zither and Chinese sleeves dance, expressing a rhythmic aesthetics of the flow of strings and long dancing sleeves. This new landmark development will redefine the skyline of Shijiazhuang and become a focus in the region.

SCE Hong Qiao Times Square designed by Aedas Executive Director Dimi Lee is an office park located at the east side of Shanghai West Hong Qiao Central Business District. The design comprises 8 low-rise office blocks enclosing a central courtyard to build an entrepreneurial community that promotes communication, efficiency and well-being of citizens. Each of¬fice blocks can be divided into flexible units to suit different enterprise’s requirements, celebrating its own identity within unity of the development. The central green space, en¬couraging movements and dynamics, offers the users an amicable working environment and add to the city another public leisure center. The biophilia design approach and multiple energy efficiency strategies have together ensured success of a visually appealing and human-scaled architecture.

The long-established International Property Awards celebrate the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real estate industry.
