International Property Awards 2013

Designed by Andrew Bromberg of Aedas, Xihongmen Mixed-use Development, Da Xing District in Beijing, China represented Asia Pacific to compete in this year’s International Property Awards and proudly won the Best Mixed-use Architecture award.

“We are proud that our projects topped international competitors from all around the world,” said Keith Griffiths, Chairman of Aedas. “Asia is becoming the centre stage for world class architecture and Aedas is committed to contribute our best to such development.”

Designed by Andrew Bromberg of Aedas and located off the Fifth Ring Road in southeast Beijing, Xihongmen Mixed-use Development is intended to be the anchor project for a future retail centre. The development, consisting of 150,000 square metres of retail, 180,000 square metres of office and 35,000 square metres of hotel spaces, strives to serve as both an urban stitch with a green space to the south as well as a commercial threshold into the retail centre to the north. The project is split into two land plots and utilises a common language to unify the development – on the west are the office towers and on the east is a horizontally dominated retail programme. It plays formally with north/south striated, geological forms which emerge out of the landscape to the south while maintaining a more defined urban edge in the north.

The International Property Awards are open to professionals from around the globe. They celebrate the highest levels of achievement by companies operating in all sectors of the property and real estate industry. Both winning projects were the highest scoring winners in respective regions and categories to be qualified to compete against other winning projects from Europe, Africa and the Americas at the year-end International Property Awards to become the ultimate World’s Best Mixed-use Architecture and Office Architecture. An International Property Award is a world-renowned mark of excellence.
