MIPIM Asia Awards 2013

Aedas’ passion to design with a deep social and cultural understanding of the communities they are designing for was rewarded at MIPIM Asia Awards 2013 – The Star in Singapore and Centres of Central in Hong Kong each won a Silver Award under the Best Retail and Leisure Development category and the Best Urban Regeneration Project category respectively.

“Both winning projects meet local needs and international standards,” said Keith Griffiths, Chairman of Aedas. “They truly reflect Aedas’ belief that great designs are world-class design solutions tailored to the needs of communities around the world.”

The Star in Singapore is something new for the city state. Designed by Andrew Bromberg of Aedas, it houses a 5,000-seat performing venue and a naturally cooled mall, breaking through the norm of the tropical country and splicing together shopping, socialising, culture and performance to create a new kind of armature for urban activities. Its design embraces the local context and in turn, be embraced by the people of Singapore.

Aedas has been involving in the revitalisation and enhancement of key Hongkong Land’s properties including the Prince’s Building, Alexandra House, Chater House and The Landmark complex in Hong Kong’s central business district – Central since 1966. In collaboration with partners including Kohn Penderson Fox, Claudio Silvestrin and Massimiliano Fuksas we strengthened Central’s position as a major regional financial hub and prestigious retail and lifestyle destination, seamlessly linked by a world renowned network of elevated, covered walkways that offer all-weather convenience for pedestrians while alleviating pressure on road traffic, meeting the evolving needs of Central.
