Andrew Bromberg at Aedas joins architectural forum

In the public forum ‘Therme Forum: Theater and Architecture’ at Sibiu International Theatre Festival, Andrew Bromberg, Global Design Principal of Aedas, joined other architects including Kengo Kuma from Kuma and Associates, Louis Becker from Henning Larsen, Maximilian and Daniel Zielinski from Foster + Partners, Nils Fisher from Zaha Hadid Architects and Eric Bunge from nARCHITECTS in a multi-faceted dialogue to examine the relationship between theatrical arts and their buildings, and how this relationship is impacted by, and shapes the community impact, financial and social sustainability, and evolution of the art form.

Andrew spoke on ‘Iconic Architecture’ and he suggested that theatres and architecture are not just objects. They are spaces and volumes that tie things together. He explained with his theatre and mixed-use projects, including The Star and Sandcrawler in Singapore, Winspear Completion Project in Canada, Plac Grzybowski in Poland and Chengdu City Music Hall in China, that buildings are iconic more because of how they tie to the surrounding and tie the community together.
