Close to the light rail and subway network, the LEED Gold certified Heartland 66 mixed-use development is located along Jinghan Avenue in Qiaokou District, Wuhan's bustling business hub.The design concept — infinite loop — is taken from the Chinese art of knot tie, which symbolizes fortune and good wishes. In the design of Heartland 66, the retail blocks, F&B terraces, sunken plaza and landscaping on the east and west sites, are woven together by a set of knots tied to and integrated with a jade ornament, developed as a response to the site’s circulation patterns resulting from a bisecting road. The concept is also manifested in the pedestrian circulation of the building which leads to, and is anchored by, a series of green terraces in the rooftop Sky garden that is set at the heart of the scheme. The retail podium is compartmented into three sectors assigned with disparate functions, with the recreational and leisure segments situated on the east side and the entertainment pocket, which is taken up by the cinema components, on the west. The 334-metre office tower on the southeast is connected with the retail elements by a winter garden, which helps create a high volume interstitial space and ensure sufficient natural light to be filtered through the office lobby and its adjacent retail areas. The building striated in blue and grey hues is designed with a minimalist aesthetic; the silver roof lantern sitting at the crown of the office tower is dazzling, conceived as a beacon of the city. The entrance canopy is clad with aluminum and laminated with fritted glass that serves as a welcoming cover; its impactful design heralds the grandiosity of the building, preparing the visitors for an enthralling experience.Residence in the serviced apartments are conferred with a swimming pool and a clubhouse, as well as accessibility via a footbridge to the light rail system. By its proximity to retail, commercial and transport, it is a representation of the work-life conintuum, heralding a life of balance and fulfillment.
