Designed by Aedas, the South-East Bay Bridge at Gardens by the Bay will connect Bay South Garden and Bay East Garden across the Kallang River, completing a pedestrian link between two of Singapore’s most visited landscapes. The design departs from conventional elevated bridge typologies by dipping to the water’s surface, placing visitors in immersive contact with the Marina Bay waterfront to create an unparalleled pedestrian experience.
The journey begins with an ascent through the tree canopies to a 9-metre elevated vantage point offering panoramic views across Marina Bay, taking in the Supertrees, glass conservatories, and the Founders’ Memorial, before descending toward Marina Barrage.
The bridge levels out on the water’s surface to create an interactive experience with the Marina Bay waterfront, telling the story of Singapore’s past and future, highlighting the importance of water to the nation.
Floating resting and observation pods with planter boxes are provided along the journey, blending the garden and waterfront seamlessly.
At night, accent lighting gives the bridge a distinct presence on the Marina Bay skyline, adding a new element to a cityscape away from the CBD.
