di Magazine interviews with Ken Wai

29 October 2020

Aedas Global Design Principal, Ken Wai talked with Di Magazine on Aedas’ global business layout, how Aedas has been responding to the pandemic, and its impact on the architecture industry at large.

Aedas has always had a diverse business portfolio, specializing in a broad range of sectors including mixed-use, commercial, office, residential, hospitality, cultural & arts. In response to the rapid pace of urbanization in mainland China, two new urban planning team, Hong Kong and Beijing, were installed on top of the extant Aedas Shanghai team in 2019.

In light of the pandemic, Aedas has implemented several measures to ensure staff safety. For one, the switch from offline to online has been fairly straightforward, thanks to the existence of a Aedas global design network, by which smooth communication and seamless project management could be conducted.

In a post-COVID world, Aedas envisions a space in which retail owners would pay more attention to the comfort and hygiene level in the shopping environment. Anticipating this change, there will be a surge of interest among design companies to place a higher premium on these elements, creating work that is more user-friendly, and human.
