The Eighth Aedas Scholarship Review is successfully held at Shenzhen University

Aedas Executive Director Kelvin Hu and Director Fay Zhou attend the Eighth Aedas Scholarship Review of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Shenzhen University, as members of the review panel.

Kelvin shares that the Aedas Scholarship exemplifies the Aedas’ dedication to nurturing the next generation of architectural talents. He highlights that the initiative encourages and empowers aspiring architects to develop strong design skills, alongside a comprehensive understanding of urban systems, ensuring they are well-equipped to excel as the industry continues to evolve.

The review panel comprised experts from both industry and academia, including Chief Architect of Huayi Design Lin Yi, Secretary of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning Zhong Botao, Chief Architect of Shenzhen Architecture Design General Research Institute Yang Xu, Executive Chief Architect of CCDI Wang Lang, and Assistant Professor of Shenzhen University Fan Yating.

A total of 16 students enter the final presentations, with seven from the third year group and nine from the fourth year group. Each finalist delivers a six minute presentation followed by a four minute Q&A session.

During the review discussion, Fay shares that many projects have addressed the real urban issues such as urban renewal, affordable housing and infrastructure integration. She agrees that this problem driven approach reflects the qualities valued by Aedas in professional practice and hopes to see these young designers contribute to future projects for the community.
