The phrase “toeing the line” was never in Dr Andy Wen’s dictionary. Since his early years in Taiwan, Wen was averse to memorising textbooks but enthralled in graffiti drawing. It was when he moved to the United States with his family at 8 years old that the architecture calling was awaken. With a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D from Tsinghua University under his belt, Andy went back to Taiwan to serve as the dean of the Department of Architecture at Ming Chuan University. In 2008, he joined Aedas, the world’s top architectural firm, and currently serves as the Global Design Principal.
