Alluri Sitaram Raju International Airport

Andhra Pradesh / India

Alluri Sitaram Raju International Airport is a greenfield project including Passenger Terminal Building and ATC designed as an integrated International and Domestic Airport, primarily catering to Origin and Destination (O&D) traffic, with very minimal transfer. The Terminal follows a simple, intuitive and symmetric space where passenger arrivals and departures domestic flows are done in different levels keeping permeability and visual connection through the spaces, which will help to improve the experience.

The journey starts at the Forecourt and kerbside, located at the North of the Terminal, and develops towards the South through the Processor, the Central Retail Plaza and ending at the Pier, filled with natural light, open at all sides to keep clear views towards the Apron airfield. Within every processing operation, the next function is easily found as they are visually connected.

Inspired by the colours, textures and elements of the distinct landscape features of this region, the overall design – from the unique roof and façade design to the Interior finishes and art – seeks to reflect a journey through the rich folklore, flora, fauna, costumes, traditions and rituals of the Northern Coastal region area between the Eastern Ghats and Bay of Bengal, a gateway to the unique region of Andhra Pradesh.
