The W Hotel and Marriott Spa & Resort Phu Quoc occupy a reclaimed 70,000 sqm site on Phu Quoc Island, forming part of Sun Group’s APEC 2027 masterplan. Positioned between the future administrative centre and a major cruise terminal, with Ra Da Mountain to the north and the ocean to the south and west, the development sits at the threshold of an emerging city centre.
The architecture draws its narrative from the Odyssey of the Dragon Kings, an East Asian legend in which a carp ascends into a dragon, embodying prosperity and power. Two hotel towers rise as dragons in ascent, their vertical movement articulated through lightweight GRC cladding and integrated facade lighting. Between them, a grid-shell structure clad in dichroic glass forms the luminous central pearl, shifting colour across the course of the day.
The programme brings together curated retail, immersive event venues, swimming pools, spa and wellness facilities, a fitness centre, and family recreational spaces within a single coastal destination. A cantilevered rooftop pool with a glass bottom extends the experience skyward, framing uninterrupted views across the coastline below.
