Aedas Founder and Chairman Keith Griffiths delivers a presentation at the Lighthouse Club’s ‘United in Construction’ Conference. The two-day conference celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Lighthouse Club Hong Kong Branch and brings together industry leaders to explore the future of construction, addressing the advancing frontiers of sustainability and innovation for world cities.
Speaking under the theme of sustainability and innovation, Keith presents the topic ‘Connected and Porous Low Energy Cities.’ He discusses why high-rise, high-density communities are essential for humane and sustainable urban development. He highlights new building types that connect cities through adaptable, pedestrian-friendly planning and vertically linked shared activity hubs, evolving into interactive and biophilic communities.
Keith illustrates these ideas through key projects, including Hongkong Land’s Tomorrow’s CENTRAL, which connects 12 buildings in Hong Kong’s CBD through an integrated footbridge system. He also shares examples such as The Forum in Hong Kong, Taichung Bank Headquarters and JW Marriott Hotel in Taiwan, T33 Tower and Building Decoration Headquarters in Shenzhen, as well as developments within the Huanggang Port District. These projects demonstrate how connectivity, sustainability and innovation shape the next generation of high-density urban environments.
